Mitchell Johnson’s critique sparks controversy
Former fast bowler Johnson, known for his candid opinions, recently criticized the selection committee for including Warner in the Test squad for the Pakistan series. Johnson expressed his belief that Warner does not deserve the “hero’s sendoff” he is currently receiving, leading to widespread debate and discontent within the cricketing fraternity.
David Warner breaks his silence
Days after Johnson’s comments gained traction, Warner has broken his silence on the matter. Refusing to escalate the situation, Warner maintained a composed stance, acknowledging that everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Despite the brewing controversy, Warner expressed his focus on the upcoming Test series in the west, emphasizing a positive outlook.
“It wouldn’t be a summer without a headline, would it? It is what it is. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinions. Moving forward, we’re looking forward to a nice Test over in the west,” said Warner, as quoted by Fox Cricket.

Warner’s resilience in the face of criticism
Reflecting on his upbringing, Warner credited his parents for instilling in him the values of hard work and resilience. Unfazed by external critiques, he highlighted the importance of staying focused and putting in his best effort, particularly as he approaches the conclusion of his illustrious Test career.
“I resonate with where I grew up, and for me, it was a great upbringing with my parents, and it taught me every day to fight and work hard. My parents ingrained that into me, and when you get onto the world stage, you don’t understand what comes with that,” added Warner.
