David Warner clean bowled by Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami has been the India Test team’s most lethal pacer for over a decade. After all, no one can forget his incredible performance against the hosts South Africa in December 2021 when he picked up a fifer in the first innings and laid the foundation of his team’s emphatic win.

Coming back to the present, he outfoxed Australia opener David Warner with an absolute jaffa on Day 1 of the first Test in Nagpur. Shami gave the Indian fans a second reason to celebrate as Mohammed Shami earlier sent back Usman Khawaja cheaply (1 off 3).

In the third over of the match, Shami bowled a length delivery that moved in after landing on the pitch before beating Warner’s bat. The left-handed batter’s off stump was sent for a walk by the incoming delivery from Shami.

The official broadcaster Star Sports has posted the video of Warner’s dismissal on their Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, Srikar Bharat and Suryakumar Yadav have made their Test debut for India, while Australia handed the Baggy Green to Todd Murphy.

Notably, the Aussies have tasted victory in just one Test in their last four tours of India. They have registered only one series win in India in 54 years – a victory that came under the leadership of Adam Gilchrist in 2004.

Playing XI of both teams for Nagpur Test:

India: Rohit Sharma (captain), KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Srikar Bharat (wicketkeeper), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj.

Australia: David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Matt Renshaw, Peter Handscomb, Alex Carey (wicketkeeper), Pat Cummins (captain), Nathan Lyon, Todd Murphy, Scott Boland.
